Description
The PIKE database are assembled by Göran Englund and co-workers at the Department of Ecology and Environmental Science at Umeå University. It contains information on presence of fish species, as well as introductions of new species, extinctions and rotenone treatments. Most data has been collected by governmental agencies and individuals who have shared their knowledge and data sets. The information derives from field surveys, interviews and inquires. A few hundred lakes have been surveyed within the project to obtain complementary data. Most of the occurrence data have been collected in the period 1890-2012. PIKE also includes information on water chemistry, lake depth, lake area, and much more. Most of the lakes are found in Sweden, but Norway and Finland are also represented.
Data Records
The data in this sampling event resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 82,082 records.
1 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Versions
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Quality Control | The reliability of each record were rated where 1 = "low reliabilility", often second information given in interviews 2 = "reliable", typically interviews with local fishers or managers 3 = "high reliability", often gill net records and interviews with particularly well-informed persons. |
