GBIF Sweden is the Swedish participant node in the Global Biodiversity Information Facility, GBIF. Our main task is to make primary data on biological diversity from Swedish collections and observation databases freely available and to coordinate and support GBIF-related activities and data use in Sweden.
GBIF Sweden is launching Data Fika, a new online series for Sweden’s biodiversity data community. Running from September 2026 to June 2027, the series offers ten informal sessions covering the journey from finding and using biodiversity data to preparing and publishing your own data through GBIF.
For International Day for Biological Diversity on 22 May, GBIF Sweden highlights how living plant collections in Uppsala connect Sweden’s scientific heritage with today’s global need for open biodiversity data.
GBIF Sweden is part of a newly funded GBIF Biodiversity Information for Development (BID) project that will support museum collection digitization, biodiversity data mobilization, and data use for conservation and restoration planning in East and Southern Africa.
